Raspberry Recipes

While surfing the net for recipes, I found a site full of wonderful raspberry recipes, called Raspberry Depot Make sure to check their site out!

It's hard for me to resist the temptation to eat raspberries in their raw state, in order to actually put them into recipes, but occasionally I'll buy a few containers and splurge to make something(of course, leaving a few behind for eating raw). My mom has always made baked goods for breakfast, and when I lived at home, dad and I would always use raspberry jam with our biscuits, muffins or popovers. Raspberry pie is to die for. I get them from an Amish bakery nearby, and it's perfect..not too sweet or tart..just right. Anything with raspberries in it, to me, is comfort food, for sure. Anyways, here's a few recipes from Raspberry Depot. Check out their site for more! It's a treasure trove of raspberry bliss!

Peanut Butter Recipes

From childhood, I've been addicted to peanut butter. No jar of peanut butter is safe in my house..or my parents'. Dad never left a speck of it in the jar, and I seem to have inherited that tradition. Anyways, here are some great recipes I found on various food blogs and sites for peanut butter recipes, they look great..hope to try them sometime!

Peanut Butter Oreo Icebox Cake

Another way to make that would be with fresh whipped cream instead of Cool Whip, and crushed "Famous" brand chocolate cookies instead of oreos. A favorite teacher of mine (Mrs. Priscilla Ford) long ago had me help her with a Christmas party at her home, and showed me how to make a Famous Cookie Icebox Cake which was really easy, just those cookies and whipped cream, layered in a log shape and then covered over with more whipped cream. The cookies soften when allowed to sit in the icebox. Heaven. With peanut butter, all the better, I say! Famous cookies (also known as Famous Wafers) can be bought on Amazon.com.

I digress. Here's a couple more peanut butter recipes:

Creative Coffee Cakes

Here are some creative coffee cake recipes I found while browsing recipes on pro foodie blogs. It's fun to experiment with different flavor combinations, for example raspberry and chocolate always go well together. I frequently change recipes a little with my own tweaks when making them, adding nuts or nut butters, different kinds of extracts, etc.

Welcome to My Recipe Blog

Welcome to my recipe blog. I'm Carolyn McFann, busy owner of Two Purring Cats Clothing & Gifts and certified major sweet-tooth.

Though I am usually working in my office, I take time to try intriguing recipes when I run across them, usually giving away my creations to friends and family. I've been baking since I was very young, as my mom is an incredible cook and I liked to help her here and there. Wish I had her cooking talent, she's amazing. She used to watch every Julia Child episode and cook pretty much everything she ever made. Her cookbook collection is very impressive..and she uses all of them!

I make breads, desserts and breakfast items mostly but occasionally launch into cooking dinner recipes (being divorced, cooking fancy meals isn't necessary anymore.. the microwave is my friend, when it comes to dinner ;)I'm pretty good at making things like yeast breads, pies and cakes, mainly. In college I used to be called "Betty Crocker" in the dorm, from making occasional batches of homemade apple strudel. I won a baking contest long ago with a coffee cake recipe, that's about it in terms of my experience. I'm no chef but enjoy tinkering with recipes to customize them.

Here is a mix of some recipes I've found and liked on the internet.

When I go to Presti's Italian Bakery in Little Italy (Cleveland), I get cannolis, a rich treat of pastry shells with an amazing ricotta cheese filling, and dipped in miniature chocolate chips. A Sicilian ex-boyfriend of mine introduced me to them years ago, and I was hooked! Here are a few recipes that are sure to please all who love these lovely pastries.
